Welcome, My Friend!

Our MISSION

Camp Ho Mita Koda’s mission is to enable children to live well with diabetes through an enjoyable camp experience.

Founded in 1929, Camp Ho Mita Koda is the oldest camp for children with diabetes in the United States. The basic purpose and high standards of care that guided the camp’s first year continue to prevail.  Read more about Camp’s rich history…

Give the Gift of Confidence Built on Shared Experiences

Join the magic of this special camp that gives children with diabetes the opportunity to share experiences and learn vital self-care skills while enjoying all the fun, outdoor activities that make unforgettable summer memories.

Nestled in 72 wooded acres in Newbury, Ohio, just 25 miles east of Cleveland, Camp Ho Mita Koda combines  the highest quality, nurturing medical care and diabetes education with fun, outdoor adventures and fast friendships. Activities include swimming, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding, archery, arts & crafts, drama, team sports, and much more.

From the increased self-esteem, sense of independence, and getting to feel just like any other kid, to the friendships that last a lifetime, Camp Ho Mita Koda will always remain a special part of the lives of the children it has touched.

Many of our counselors are camp alumni who have diabetes so they know first-hand what it is like. The staff to camper ratio is at least one staff member to every five campers.
